Hickory NC Wedding Photographer- Katherine+Chris

As seen on Style Me Pretty

This was one amazing weekend for me, with one wonderful family. Katherine and Chris' wedding was like a storybook tale. They have known each other since they were children, dated through high school and college - sharing all of those memories together. When I photographed them back in the fall for their e-session Katherine's family extended her childhood room to me as a place to stay. There were tons of photos on bulletin boards and in frames scattered around the room- so many of them were Katherine and Chris throughout the years. I loved looking at their past together.
Then, when I visited to photograph the wedding I was able to hear toast after toast from their friends - so many of them look to this couple as a moral compass for a successful relationship. To see a room full of such strong support was truly amazing.
This was one perfect weekend for the perfect couple....

The weekend began with a bridesmaid's tea which was a surprise to Katherine. When she was a little girl she loved to have tea parties. Her mom, Sally, brought the tea sets from home and used them to adorn the tables - It was held in a restored warehouse in downtown Hickory - the perfect storybook atmosphere :)

Below, a few shots of the rehearsal dinner- Chris and Katherine move from almost tears to laughter-
Chris entertained the crowd - everyone was on their feet dancing

Oh Reem Acra- I do love your gowns-
Katherine's' Bride's Man' was awesome...

Thanks for the fun- My introduction to Hickory could not have been better!

Wrightsville Beach Wedding- Lindsay+Hayes

Lindsay and Hayes were married May 21 at the Surf Club in Wrightsville Beach .

A perfect day unfolded for them- it couldn't have been a more beautiful Saturday on the beach.
They held the ceremony outside by the dunes- ocean beyond.

Just before Lindsay walked down the aisle with her dad a pair of fighter jets flew low over the ceremony site- though unplanned, the timing could not have been better.
Take a peek at the fun below-

Lindsay's love for the Wizard of Oz inspired her shoes :)Love how the ruffles in the girl's dresses and the detail on Lindsay's gown looked similar to the their hair styles. So sweet...

Bowtie love

Bouquet love!

Thanks to everyone coming together and making this fabulous day-

Baltimore Engagement Photography-Britt+Jon (and my Grandaddy)

Meet Brittany and Jon...
I first met them on Bald Head last summer while shooting their family session. I kept referring to Jon as ' the rental' since they had been together for so long (long enough to be included in the family shots).
Fast forward to November when Britt's mom comes into Shoot! to tell me that Jon will be proposing in December during a NYC trip. She was already planning!!! I loved it.

So, instead of shooting their e-session on BHI they opted to fly me up to the fab city of Baltimore in April - which was especially nice for me :) Not only did I get to photograph this awesome session with the soft light with the cherry trees in bloom, I am lucky enough to have my family and good friends in the city.
It was a few days before my 29th (again) birthday so I met my Grandaddy, who will be 93 this fall, and my aunts, uncles and cousins for a sweet, birthday lunch- cake included! ( happy birthday to you too, Beth!)

Thanks to Eric, Molly, Annie and Nick for sharing your home with me! I love you guys...

Back to Brittany and Jon :)

The weekend couldn't have been more perfect- the weather was pretty nasty when I arrived but the rain cleared out and left us with lovely overcast skies for the shoot. We began on Federal Hill and made our way around the city. Britt and Jon were perfect. Brittany is especially FIERCE with camera. I can't wait for the wedding next May!

Enjoy

My Grandaddy :) So Dapper!
Thanks, uncle Don, for taking this photo of us!

Bald Head Island Wedding Photography/ Julie+Brooks The Full Post :)

You may remember Julie and Brooks from last fall when I traveled to NYC to photograph their engagement session. You can see those images here.
They married on April 2 in the Bald Head Island Chapel their reception was held at the Bald Head Island Club (thanks Shauna!!!)
I loved the bright, spring flowers that Julie chose for her arrangements and bouquets- Gerber daisies, tulips, and ranunculus. Lynn Moser took Julie's vision and made it a beautiful reality- It screamed spring!
Julie and Brooks incorporated their favorite cities into their tablescapes- Austin, New Orleans (where Brooks grew up) NYC (where they met and live currently) to name a few.

I began the day at Julie's oceanside house - the girls were so relaxed and happy. There were sweet flower girls in their J Crew cupcake dresses patiently having their hair fixed and toddlers waking from their naps for the big event. Lots of children were in the wedding and yes, it went off without a hitch!
Everyone was dressed in chocolate with bright orange, pink and yellow pashminas and shoes to add another punch of color.

I then headed to the Chapel where a lovely tea cart was set up by Classic Weddings for all the guests to enjoy while visiting the chapel grounds and Old Baldy. Such an inviting way to greet guests that arrived early.
Brooks was there waiting - looking dapper in his Brooks Brother's spring suit and Julie's signature orange tie. I loved the she stepped out of the box with her color choices!

You can view all of the fun and love below.
Bald Head Island is such a beautiful place to visit and be married- and it's at the top of my list for places to photograph.
I'm sure you'll agree :)
